PRAZ-SUR-ARLY,
MEGEVE
Les Portes de Soleil and Les Trois Vallées are frequently cited as
the ski areas with the most to offer by those who have not experienced
the delights of the Praz and Megève ski areas. As popular ski areas
with the French and those 'in the know' they also offer the added
bonus of being close to Geneva, reasonably priced and less crowded.
PRAZ-SUR-ARLY
Praz-sur-Arly Praz is famous for its colourful Hot Air Balloon festival
in January each year. Situated between Chamonix and Albertville, the
slopes at Praz are just 300m from the Maddmaison Chalet-Apartment.
Praz forms part of L'Espace Diamant which also encompasses Les Saisies,
Hauteluce, Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe, Flumet and Crest-Voland covering
175km of pistes. Praz itself is a small town with a church, pharmacy
and many shops, restaurants and bars all within easy walking distance.

MEGÈVE
The stylish, medieval town of Megève is only 4km away from Praz on
the route to Geneva. Megève offers chic shops, restaurants and an
attractive centre. Famous as a cosmopolitan ski resort since the 1920's,
lifts reach just under 2400m and cover 600km of pistes. To ski in
Megève, if you are driving, there is easy access to the pistes at
Rochebrune on the way to Megève. By parking on the top level of the
multi-storey car park in Rochebrune you can walk-out straight onto
the slopes. For an alternative starting point, drive to the fast Princesse
lifts on the Geneva side of Megève. Facilities in Megève include a
skating rink, skidoo hire, gym, swimming pool, bowling alley and cinema.
In the summer, outdoor activities abound in both Praz and Megève and
include paragliding, tennis, horse riding and mountain and cross country
trails.
